For the love of all things friendly

THE GIRL I CALL ‘FISHROAD’
You know how when you like something, you jump over seven mountains and wade through seven seas just to get it? That’s exactly how it is with her. She can tell you where you’ll get the best in the whole city. An adult yet an innocent child to her cravings. A girl of amazing character. And no! Today is not her birthday but we should celebrate one another every day. This update is especially for her. She is simply amazing and a total foodie just like me. I cannot for the life of me remember the first time we met, I have fish memory but I know the sun must have shone so brightly yet so tenderly to have given me the warm fuzzy feeling I get every time we meet. You’re amazing, don’t stop. This girl manages her emotions so well, I’ve never seen her sad, sometimes I just try to deduce. Mama loves you, felicity. And yeah, her name is Felicia, ‘felibom’ and she loves fish rolls. She is the girl I call fishroad.

I'll be posting more updates from now on.

For the love of all things short

I keep myself hidden,
I tell everyone no
And none before
I select what I remember
But I just can't forget you
That you were once mine
And that you once lived.
I miss you,
Especially on the moonlit nights.

For the love of all things imaginative 😊

The real story behind Amaka's disappointment

She had dated him for almost three years. They met at the cafeteria in 100 level and then from there started "meeting" more. Before she knew it, the became friends and then lovers. He was her senior by a year and so facilitated her getting materials and keeping her safe within the campus. By the time she got to 300 level, he was called up for his youth service at calabar, Cross river state. It didn't take him long to settle down and then he invited her over. However, due to exams, she couldn't make it but promised to visit Emeka as soon as she finished.
Not knowing she meant it literally, she indeed finished her last paper by 3pm and made way from lagos to calabar. Eventually, she got to calabar by 4am. Tired, hungry, frustrated and aching, she got to his apartment only to find him with a calabar girl.
Broke, broken, hungry, angry and with nowhere to lay her head, she met with a "good samaritan" who offered her bed and breakfast for a price, her phone number. It seemed like a good deal and she took it. Before she got back to lagos, Emeka had conveniently created rumours which painted her as a "runs girl" and switched the story to say that she came to calabar with another man and  he caught her red handed. On getting back to lagos, she was heart broken and with mo reputation.  Her studies suffered and she dropped from a first class to a 2,1 which she struggled to finish with. The shy girl was gone, a social media influencer emerged.
Some months after graduation, the "good samaritan" called her to meet him at a hotel in lagos which she did seeing as she wanted to meet up with him one more time if only to thank him. They got talking and became friends. He even helped her get a placement for her youth service. It was on one fateful day on IG that Amaka met a @tufaceidibia who liked what he saw and sent a dm, he was like, "I like woman, I dey straightforward ". He started asking her to come visit. Not long after she also saw a dm from a certain @peruzzi_VIBES on twitter who introduced himself as a friend of tuface by saying,  "I know tuface, I dey straightforward too".
By that time, she had started dating Segun, the good samaritan, this time she took things slow which explains why she wasn't all lovey dovey with him on IG, however she retweets her mister. Her posting letter came out and in between packing and her friend's upcoming birthday she was just so busy.
Peruzzi_VIBES knowing she retweets her mister still asks her to reply tufaceidibia who innocently didn't know of a mister and come to their party. It's a Friday, her friend's birthday and the day of the party. Being the party planner and friend of the celebrant, she lost track of time and had to keep telling tufaceidibia she was on her way. It took her quite some time to make her way from Ipaja to V.I but she did only to meet the end of the party.  At least she tried keeping her word but it's been a stressful week. At that moment, she puts a call through to Segun to come pick her up and gist about her roller coaster week. In her mind,  she tried all she could but to them she "disappointed " them.

My mind is running wild😂😂
Who knows? Maybe Amaka didn't really disappoint. Another view to the story.

Have a fun filled weekend

For the love of all things sagacious

       FAMILY SAGA
The chair feels hot on everyone’s butt and I’m sure no one is paying attention to whatever the pastor is saying. Aunty T, the action mama is already boiling on her seat while Uncle K is trying to calm his wife, a scene is bound to happen here today and the worst part, even the audience usually gets their fair share as it doesn’t take long for the story to flip and change and land on you. Can we ever have a family function and they won’t fight? But that’s what family is like, right? It all started at B’s wedding December of last year. IB happens to be Iya IB’s first daughter who got married to OG and it came with a drama of its own, the spin off of which we’ll see today. Before IB’s wedding, the traditional rites were performed by a member of the bride’s family which wasn’t supposed to be and so stepped on people’s toes. Iya IB is known to be a manipulative witch in the family if I do say so myself maybe that’s why nobody likes her yet only a few people show it, one of which is me in my little corner and Aunty T. Aunty T is my father’s mother’s brother’s brother’s grandfather’s granddaughter, crazy right? Crazy but true. Sometimes even I forget how we’re related, abeggi, molebi ni gbogbo wa (we are all one big family).
One thing this family is good at is keeping up appearances, if you were not part of a group even within the family, you just might have no clue as to what’s going on. According to what I’ve been privileged to hear from both sides, during the wedding, Aunty T overheard Iya IB call Uncle I’s wife who just happens to be way older than her by her first name which in my culture is a no no, especially if her husband is older than yours, which he is, it was plain disrespect. Aunty T upon hearing this expected Mama O, another family member who is also older and is supposed to talk sense into Iya IB, to scold her on the spot for just attitude. Mama O behaved like she didn’t hear which was not possible because of their proximity. Aunty T upon hearing this decided to come to Uncle I’s wife aid by scolding Iya IB only for Mama O to scold her instead for disrespecting an elder especially at her daughter’s wedding. At this, Aunty T flared up and turned to attack Mama O for being hypocritical by turning a blind eye to such disrespect only for her to magnify hers which would never have come if the first didn’t happen.
Mama O reports Aunty T to Baba Agba who in line with the tradition of first chasing away the eagle blamed Aunty T and asked her to apologise which she blatantly refused to do maintaining her position. We thought that died down until we heard Iya IB deny ever calling Uncle I’s wife by name, the bone of contention. At this Mama O flares up and unconsciously admits to hearing her utter such word which Aunty T holds on to in her bid to get justice. Uncle K’s wife on the other hand paid for aso ebi for IB’s wedding which she got late and of inferior quality, upon complaints Iya IB called her a ‘stingy, idle mind’ that knows nothing of how hard it is to plan a wedding which infuriated her and had to get her husband to pacify her. In all these, the men are just cool and trying to cool down their wives.
Today is Baba Agba’s birthday thanksgiving and while that has died down or at least we thought, Mama O stands up to get some food which normally shouldn’t be especially since IB was present, but just for peace to reign, she does and IB still has to audacity ti ask her to bring two plates and drinks also for her and her husband.  This was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Aunty T just flipped and while they were trying to settle that one, her mother tried pacifying them both which caused Uncle K’s wife who has kept her grievance hidden to also flip and then they had to separate seats with each husband pacifying his wife. As a young person there, I wished to be invisible because next thing you know they’ll pounce on the next person who says a word. After thanksgiving now, everybody will scatter and await the next drama. This one lasted 8 months, next one and we might not be so lucky. Families 😯

Sorry for the late updates, it's been a long week and it's just Wednesday, that's saying something 😊
So I started my book today and decided to update as well. It's a journey and I'm excited.

Till next time,
Your very own

For the love of all things reflective

SUNSET

 Dear heart,
The call was the worst I’d received, the end to it all. I could only make out your name and I just knew, I just did. I’m not one to keep fit but I’d never run so fast in my life and speed had never felt so useless. I could not get to you in time. I failed you. I’m calling you, why won’t you respond? What would happen to our morning runs? Or the silly fights we get into. The early morning toast and smoothie and Christmas cardigans. Your moans of pleasure and tears of pain. Maybe I didn’t know just how valuable they all were, or maybe I did and I just thought we’ll be together forever. The smile that would always reach your eyes and the creases by the side of your eyes that notify me of your mischief. Your warmth that is no more. It’s weird that all feelings are racing through my mind yet I feel nothing, nothing at all. All I see is your blood on my hands and your body on the floor, I have to get out of here!! I have to!
                                                                                           Yours in hurt,
                                                                                            Your love.

This is a thank you to that friend who pushed me to put this up today. Thanks for being so supportive.

For the love of all things emotional

STONE AND COLD
I look forward to Thursday evenings, that’s our night, that's the time you call me from Canada. We’ll talk for hours and not want it to end. I miss our laughs. I remember when we met, at that get together. You just broke through my walls without trying, well I wasn’t trying too. I mean, you’re amazing and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I cannot wait for you to get back so we’ll see. People were jealous of our relationship I mean, who wouldn’t? Everyone thought we’d move forward and we did, not just in the way they thought. You asked and I obliged. I gave it my all, selflessly and I don’t regret it, I never will.
I look forward to our Friday night talks. I would reveal my soul to you and you would do likewise but I’m keeping something from you. A secret that will make or mar our relationship. I’d rather not. I love what we have. I guess some things are meant to die in you and this is just it. You know more about me than anyone else and give me true advice more than anybody has. I love you and I can’t wait for you to be back.
Saturdays are the best when we talk about anything and everything. Movies, fashion, etc. I miss us. I can’t wait for you to be back so we can turn up at the wedding. I’ve learnt shaku shaku with the sauce.
We met first, sisters forever. Then I met you, the ideal boyfriend. I kept our relationships side by side. We became close and people thought we would date, even I secretly thought so. You started dropping hints and I subtly picked them up. Then, you met her, my friend turned sister and the hints changed. You asked for her and I selflessly gave because at that point, I just knew, that was the end. ‘I was your amber but now she’s your shade of gold’. I watched you blossom and helped settle your fights. All these I did and I don’t regret it. You knew about our feelings but you knew about hers too. I’ve said goodbye to my feelings and they’ve started dying cause I know, even if you still want me which you don’t, ‘we’ can never happen at leastnot anymore.
I love you both and I’ll stand by you to chase away the hyenas and fight off the bears, know that you’ve got me. I’ll turn up at your wedding as the only train for both of you, which is such an honour. In this race of life, I just may have lost myself and they wonder why I’m hard as stone and cold as ice.

For the love of all things trad

Aduke mi, the only one for me,
The beads around your waist pull me close
Adorning your luscious derriere.
Your skin is as dark as cocoa butter
And sweet like milky chocolate
Your bosom is a home for my weary head
And your steps an inspiration for my weary feet
I’ll never tire of holding you,
Your walk puts the cat to shame.
Aje, wealth of a thousand generations
Amo kinikan lo ba ajao je,
If only I’m your only lover
The only one you give your heart to,
Mo gba kadara,
All things come to an end,
Beauty fades and fortune ends,
Love me now or lose me then,
Because like every other
I like the sweet stew too

Just 'cause I feel like 😊
I see more updates in the week😆
